Zen Sole Origins
Zen was created by Zappos as a new hybrid media and e-commerce platform designed to put sneakerheads first. To launch Zen, we created a global docu-series that sought to uncover the untold stories of the most elusive sneakers through the eyes of today’s leading cultural tastemakers (the likes of Joe La Puma, Clark Kent, Eric Koston, Don C, and more). The series was comprised of 2 full seasons that took viewers from NYC to Tokyo, Paris, LA, Chicago, London, and Germany with a grand IRL culmination at ComplexCon in Long Beach followed by ComplexCon Chicago.
The ComplexCon activation was an interactive shopping experience that was designed to replicate the major cities that were toured in the show - with a massive grail sneaker giveaway that only stipulated that winners must wear the shoes straight away (discouraging reselling and promoting the organic love for sneaker culture).
